India is an important global supplier of dyes, accounting for 16% of global dye and dye intermediate production. In 2018, the total production capacity of dyes and pigments was 370,000 tons, and the CAGR was 6.74% from 2014 to 2018. Among them, the production capacity of reactive dyes and disperse dyes were 150,000 tons and 55,000 tons, respectively.
In the past decade, India ’s pesticides, fertilizers, textile chemicals, plastics and other industries have grown rapidly. In the global competition in the field of fine and specialty chemicals, they account for 55% of India ’s chemical exports. Among them, active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) intermediates, agricultural chemicals, dyes and pigments accounted for 27%, 19% and 18% of India’s total exports of specialty chemicals, respectively.Gujarat and Maharashtra in the west have 57% and 9% of global production capacity, respectively.
Affected by the Corona virus, the demand for textile apparel orders decreased.However, considering the reduction in dye production capacity in India,so the reduction in the inventory of the dye industry, the price of dyes is expected to increase.
